World’s first electric internet-connected SUV hits market
SAIC Motor, China’s largest automaker, launched the Roewe ERX5, the world’s first electric internet-connected SUV, along with a “YunOS Auto map for charging” on June 3 in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, setting a new milestone in the intelligent connected vehicle industry.
Built under the SSA+ structure, the Roewe ERX5 features an elegant exterior, advanced internet technologies and security, delivering outstanding and low-carbon driving.
The Roewe has enjoyed rapid development over the past 10 years. In May 2017, the brand’s sales climbed 143.7 percent to maintain its leading role in the global internet vehicle market.
This year is expected to see significant growth in the new energy vehicle industry as product quality plays an increasingly important role in market competition, while the central government is cutting subsidies on new-energy vehicles.
As customers pay more attention to the appearance of new energy vehicles, the Roewe ERX5 adopts a new design style to combine elegant and luxurious features.
Equipped with a cutting-edge internet-connected system, the Roewe ERX5 delivers a smarter driving experience. Meanwhile, the new model offers various applications, such as Alipay, voice control, remote control and smart navigation, making travel more convenient.
The vehicle has a maximum range of 425 kilometers and the battery can charge up to 80 percent in 40 minutes. Its battery was developed based on the UL2580 standard and now meets the IP67 standard. Also, the Roewe ERX5 is the first of its kind that guarantees battery quality for the first eight years or 200,000 kilometers.
The sedan’s 85kW-electric engine, Electronic Differential System (EDS) and maximum torque of 255 Nms, combine to create a green driving experience.
Besides, the 10.4-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch full LCD virtual instrument panel, electric parking system, independent air purifier, panoramic sunroof, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward-collision Warning (FCW) and leather seats, bring the ease and comfort of higher-specification vehicles to this SUV.
The Roewe ERX5 is available in three different packages, with the price ranging from 198,800 ($29,375) to 223,800 yuan, after the new energy vehicle subsidy has been applied. It also qualifies for incentives such as free license plates and is not subject to driving restrictions.
Another feature of the new model is the extremely low running costs. It only costs users around 5 yuan each day to run, and is free from traffic control and purchase limitations. Also, SAIC Motor offers free charging piles to help customers charge their cars at home.
SAIC Motor’s quality products and services have helped the company win new converts to its ecofriendly vehicles. The Roewe ERX5 aims to become the top choice for electric car fans and drive development of China’s new energy industry, with its new technologies, high quality products and low prices.
