SAIC Motor cooperates with SMG to promote brands

SAIC Motor Corporation Limited made a move to promote brand publicity by signing an agreement with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) in Shanghai, on Dec 21, 2017.

The two sides will cooperate to set up communication platforms through which SAIC Motor’s brands and the development of Shanghai would be introduced to the public.

According to the agreement, the brands owned by SAIC Motor, including Roewe, MG and Maxus, as well as its new energy vehicle sharing platform EVCARD became the cooperation partners of SMG. With the cooperation, SAIC Motor expects to speed up its development to achieve its goal of “becoming a world renowned automobile enterprise with international competitiveness and brand influence” and to push forward the development of cultural industry in Shanghai.

In recent years, SAIC Motor has exerted efforts on enhancing the transformation and upgrading by making innovations featuring electrification, interconnection, intelligence and sharing. In 2017, it made it to the Fortune Global 500 for the 13th time and ranked 41st. It also set up production bases in the UK, Thailand and Indonesia, each capable of producing more than 10,000 automobiles annually, and helping increase sale volume in overseas markets. Among all the automobile enterprises in China, SAIC Motor ranked first in terms of vehicle export and overseas sales. The total sale volume of vehicles is expected to exceed 6.9 million in 2018.

To promote brand publicity, SAIC Motor tried to make good use of sports and cultural platforms. In 2016, it started to cooperate with Shanghai SIPG Football Club and Shanghai Grand Theatre Center. It also joined hands with Shanghai Shendi (Group) Co Ltd to provide services for the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone. In 2017, SAIC Motor was listed among the “Top 50 most valuable Commercial Services brands 2017” released by British assessment agency Brand Finance and selected among the “China Top 50 Brands” by InterBrand – a brand consultancy company in China. It was also the only automobile enterprise that gained the honor of “Top 10 Best Listed Companies” from China Central Television. 

Based on the cultural platform of SMG, SAIC Motor plans to promote itself around the country and increase communication with the public. It would take more efforts to make innovations, explore methods to achieve sustainable development and to become a world renowned automobile enterprise.
